Instructions for Making Oil with the Magical Butter Machine
SELECT AND PLACE THE INGREDIENTS OF YOUR CHOICE INTO YOUR MAGICALBUTTER MACHINE AND SECURE THE HEAD WELL.
- Press the Temperature button, and select 130°F/55°C (if your model’s lowest option is 160°F/71°C, use that setting). Then press the 4 Hours/Tincture or 8 Hours/Tincture button (The 8 Hours/Tincture selection will have a stronger flavor and deeper intensity).
- After the cycle is complete, unplug the unit at the electrical outlet and carefully remove the head of the appliance. Put on your LoveGlove™, and pour the pitcher contents slowly through your PurifyFilter™ into a glass container.
- Transfer into a non-stick saucepan – the portion of strained tincture that you want reduced to MagicalButter Oil. (Note – Approximately 10 percent or less of the original tincture volume will remain after cooking.)
- Place the saucepan on an electrical or induction plate on low heat (Do Not use a gas flame), and bring it to a slow boil.
- Continue simmering for approximately 30 minutes while continually stirring oil from the sides to the bottom of the saucepan. When the consistency reaches that of warm maple syrup, you have produced your MagicalButter Oil.
- Remove your MagicalButter Oil Concentrate from the heat, and allow it to cool for 1 minute before pouring it into a dark glass container.
- *For best results do not pre-grind botanicals.
- Do not add water or lecithin.
- Patience is essential—cooking time may vary based on variety of factors.
- When properly prepared, MagicalButter Oil extract is very concentrated. Exercise caution when used.
- Adjust the amount of botanicals as needed. Alternatively, you can use regular MagicalButter Tincture as your starting material. The volume of resulting MBO will be lower if less botanical material is used to make the tincture.
Important: Reducing herbal tincture to MagicalButter Oil is possible only with specific, rare blossoms and herbs. Do NOT attempt with common, commercially available culinary herbs, fruits, and flowers. CAUTION: MATERIALS ARE HIGHLY FLAMMABLE. Could cause injury. Even if you want to use a healthier oil when cooking or baking, again coconut oil is the one to reach for.
But, there are some health benefits that go far beyond the average coconut oil use that you need to know about.
Added Health Benefits
When you ingest coconut oil , the fatty acids present in the oil help you burn fat quicker and easier. Once this fat is burned, your body can then turn it into energy to use. Because of this absorption method, coconut oil can help to speed up your body’s metabolism.
Coconut oil , as we stated, is also useful when you’re cooking. The reason for this is that it is saturated fat, which is known to be able to handle higher cooking temperatures without comprising the structure of the oil. This means you can turn up the temperature without risking burning the food that you’re cooking.
When we said that you could use coconut oil to moisturize your skin, we weren’t kidding. Check out our list of topicals and lotions you can make here .
Now that you’ve got a better understanding of why coconut oil makes the best mixing agent, let’s get into some of the best ways to make your cannabis-infused coconut oil. But first, let’s review one step that’s crucial to the entire cannabis oil creation process.
Decarboxylating the Flower
While it won’t completely ruin your recipe if you don’t decarb it, we recommend going through the process of decarboxylation before proceeding with the recipe to get the most out of your cannabis.
One of the main reasons you’re going to want to decarb the cannabis is to ensure that you’ve got active THC levels when you’re ready to use it. Decarbing improves the function of the cannabinoids found in cannabis, making it more potent for the person to use it.
Magical Butter Machine Method
The first method we’re going to take a look at is going to be the easiest to use and quickest to clean up. To use the Magical Butter Machine method, these are the ingredients you need:
- Coconut oil
- Decarboxylated Cannabis
- Magical Butter Machine
If you thought it was going to get harder, you thought wrong. These three ingredients are all you need!
Place the coconut oil into the Magical Butter Machine.
Next, add the cannabis that you’re wanting to use inside as well. You can use as little as an 1/8th and as much as 3 ounces in the machine at once. Just make sure you have the right ratio for the dosage you want.
Set your temperature to 160°F. After this, select the option for a 2 Hours and the machine will go to work.
Once the process is complete, put on the provided Magical Glove and pour the mixture through the Purify Filter that came in your kit. Squeeze the filter to ensure all oil has been collected.
Now you’re ready to use your cannabis coconut oil in any recipe you wish!
Mason Jar Method
Before you can begin the process, gather all your materials, including:
- Coconut Oil
- Mason jar with the lid
- Cannabis (decarboxylated)
Now here are the steps to take to create your infused oil.
Fill the crockpot with water about halfway. Then take the mason jar and fill it with equal amounts of your cannabis and coconut oil, sealing it with the lid.
Set your crockpot to the highest setting. Place the mason jar inside the crockpot, burping the lid about half an hour through the process.
Strain the finished product using a cheesecloth. Store the finished product until you’re ready to use it.
Double Boiler Method
Here’s your ingredient list when using this method:
- Double boiler
- Coconut oil
- Decarboxylated cannabis
This ingredient list has fewer items than the recipe that we listed before.
Fill the bottom half of your double boiler. Make sure that you don’t overflow the bowl because once it starts to heat up, it could spill. Bring the boil to a simmer, careful to avoid bubbling temperatures.
Next, you’ll want to place the top half of the double boiler over the bottom half. Make sure the bottom of your top bowl isn’t touching the water in the lower half of the double boiler.
Add the coconut oil and cannabis to the top half of your double boiler. You’re going to cook it for approximately 90 minutes, total stirring it every 10-15 minutes.
After the cooking time is over, pour your mixture into a cheesecloth. Using the cheesecloth, squeeze out all the oil into your storage container. Then store the mixture in either your freezer or refrigerator until it’s time to use it.
Crock Pot Method
Ingredients needed to pull off the crockpot method include:
Make sure you’re aware that this method may take longer from start to finish than other methods featured on our list.
Before adding your ingredients to the crockpot, you want to make the change to grind down your cannabis flower. Grinding it will make it easier to strain, but you don’t want to grind it into a powder.
Set your crockpot to high, and then add water. After doing this, you’ll add the coconut oil to the crockpot and allow it to liquefy before moving on.
Begin to stir in the cannabis flower that you ground in step 1. Stir carefully and slowly until all the flour has been saturated in the water/oil mixture. If there isn’t enough water in the pot, slowly add more water as needed.
Place the lid on top with a thermometer inside. Check the pot until it’s reached an internal temperature of 250 degrees. Once it’s reached the desired temperature, turn the crockpot to the low setting.
Allow the mixture to remain in the crockpot for upwards of 18 hours. During this time, ensure the temperature remains below 270 but higher than 250. If it gets too high, the mixture will begin to burn.
After it’s done cooking, place a piece of cheesecloth over your storage container. Pour the mixture into the cheesecloth and squeeze to get out all the oil. Seal the container in the refrigerator to rest overnight.
In the morning, when you check on your mixture, you’ll find that the oil has risen to the top and solidified. Remove the foil and discard the excess water. Store your solid cannabis oil-infused coconut oil until you’re ready to use it.
